I'm just your average Millennial, obsessed with staying home, binge-watching Parks & Rec and drinking all the Diet Coke in the house. I am a lover of Israel Diaz, female led businesses and long flowy dresses.
Welcome to my home on the internet where we talk life, theology, womanhood, marriage and work.
Do you ever look at your wedding photos and think to yourself, “God, I wish I would have…” put on some lipstick, done them at golden hour, actually spent time taking them instead of trying so hard to get back to the party? If you’re like most wives, your wedding photos, though beloved, maybe weren’t everything you were hoping they would be. (P.S. If this sounds like you, stick with me till the end, I’ve got something exciting for you!) I posed this question to my IG fam, and here are the 3 most common regrets for wedding photos:
So many brides want to look special on their wedding day. I know I did, and during my makeup trial, I had my makeup artist try a purple look. I wanted to look different. I wanted my husband to remember me on our wedding day, looking more beautiful than I ever have before. But the thing is, I don’t really wear all that much purple eyeshadow, and I never wear my hair up unless it’s in a Mulan bun on top of my head and it got there after hours in front of a screen. This regret came up a lot with women saying they have no idea what possessed them to opt for an updo when they only ever wear their hair down, or they went heavy on the makeup when they don’t really wear makeup in everyday life. As a result, they ended up not feeling like themselves and the woman they see in their wedding photos doesn’t look like them.
We often forget that weddings are events and have a program and a timeline and a million family members that you’re supposed to catch up and chat with and thank for coming and the present that they sent. Many wives I spoke to on Instagram said they wished they would have spent more time on photos, or at least gotten the photos they wanted in the beginning before the party really got going. The thing is, the whole day is a blur, and sometimes, even when you put time aside for photos, things run late, the family you’re supposed to take photos with are nowhere to be found, and YOU JUST GOT MARRIED! You’re ready to party!
Sometimes it comes down to budget, and sometimes you prioritized the wrong thing. Either way, this was a major regret from many wives about their wedding day. They got lackluster photos and have to live with them because they’re all they’ve got. Sometimes, they even hired a professional who had a very distinct style that they don’t love anymore. They weren’t thinking about how their photos would age (and no, I’m not talking about paper breaking down, I’m talking about style). They weren’t thinking “timeless” they were thinking “trending” and they regret it.
Listen, I don’t know if you got married before the Pinterest boom, or if you hated your hair, or if you always imagined getting married by the beach and couldn’t work the venues available, but if you need a bridal portrait redo, or just a really kickass anniversary gift, I’ve got the perfect solution for you. You need an Anniversary Session.
