I'm just your average Millennial, obsessed with staying home, binge-watching Parks & Rec and drinking all the Diet Coke in the house. I am a lover of Israel Diaz, female led businesses and long flowy dresses.
Welcome to my home on the internet where we talk life, theology, womanhood, marriage and work.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably not the best gift-giver. I struggle to find something meaningful when I’m standing in the middle of the mall looking (probably last minute) for a gift for my people. This becomes especially problematic when the person you’re giving a gift to is either really good at giving gifts, or, is giving you one at the same time. This makes anniversaries particularly loaded for me. Israel is usually very good at getting gifts, and we’re exchanging them at the same time.
So, I’ve put together a list of thoughtful gifts that will hopefully help you make your partner feel special for your anniversary!
Tangible Gifts
Conversation Cards: I know, I know it sounds like something you’d do at a really awkward dinner party, BUT these cards are SO good, and have really thought-provoking questions. If your significant other is reflective and loves to connect over conversation, this is the perfect gift for them. These questions are probably questions you’ve never asked each other before but would love to know. They foster intimacy and honesty and I personally LOVE them.
A Love Fern: Okay, don’t judge my How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days reference, but seriously! A plant can be a very sweet tangible gift especially if your partner is a plant parent! You could write a very sweet note about how the plant symbolizes your relationship and how it needs to be fed and cared for in order to thrive. Just make sure it doesn’t die.
Jewelry or a Watch: My second anniversary, Israel added a ring to my wedding stack. It’s a really meaningful reminder every time I look down that our relationship gets richer the more years we spend together. Jewelry is a unique way we can wear our celebration throughout the year which is why a watch also makes a good option for your man! If you’re wanting to go the extra mile, Monica Vinader does engravings at Nordstrom, so you can pick up a bracelet and engrave a note or a date for a special touch.
Print Photos: How many of us actually take the time to print our photos anymore? We have so many great photos that just live in the cloud when they should be living on our bookshelves and nightstands and hanging on the walls of our house. Grab some of your favorite photos together and either head to your local Walgreens, or, order them online from somewhere like Costco, or if you want more quality prints, Artifact Uprising.
Experience Gifts
Coupon Cards: You know those cards you used to make for your parents on Mother’s/Father’s Day? The ones that would say “Free Lawn Mowing”, “Free Shoulder Massage,” and things like that? Why did those ever go away? These coupons make such a great gift! I gifted these to Israel for our second anniversary, and honestly he loved them! I’ve made a template that you can just print, cut out, and hole punch together here!
Staycation: When was the last time you played tourist in your home town? Sometimes grabbing a hotel for the night in the place you call home is enough to feel like you’re sharing a new adventure together without as much planning as an anniversary trip out of the country would be (not to mention, significantly cheaper). This is the perfect opportunity to check out some boutique hotels in your area. If you live in San Diego like us, Estancia, La Valencia, and The Pendry Hotel would be some great options!
Book an Anniversary Session: This is an amazing way to both capture memories and create them. My Anniversary Sessions come standard with a 90 minute session, a bouquet personally designed by me, personalized champagne flutes to keep, bubbly to pop, a digital date night booklet with a month’s worth of planned weekly date nights, plus you’ll get all the best images from your session, professionally edited and delivered to you in a digital gallery as well as the best shots put together in a 13×11” hardcover Legacy Book with space for all the lessons and memories you’ve earned along the way. Plus it’s an excuse to wear your wedding dress again and who doesn’t want to do that? This is not just an amazing product, it’s an amazing experience. Learn more about it here.
I want to hear from you!
