I met my best friend Kaleigh at my freshman Homecoming dance. All our friends had decided to go to On The Border before the dance and I was late because I had a field hockey game. When I arrived at the restaurant, I took the open seat next to one of my friends, only to be approached by a tall, blonde girl with the prettiest eyes I’d ever seen coming out of the bathroom to say, “Uhh. You’re in my spot. Can I have my seat back?” I didn’t know it then (and who would with such a snarky tone), but that girl would become my very best friend and remain my best friend until this day.

We played competitive soccer together, we worked out together, we made weird videos together on her brother’s Mac desktop, and took a thousand ugly pictures of each other to update our Myspace pages. She was as weird as I was and our friendship has only deepened over the years despite the fact that she now lives two states away.

I have loved being a part of her life, from all the hard stuff to some of the more joyous occasions, like my fiancé inviting her to surprise me the day he proposed to finding out she was pregnant with twins, Kaleigh is a friend for life. That’s why I was so excited to get to take her family photos when she and her (now fiancé) were in town with their twin girls! We had a blast at one of San Diego’s most beautiful cliffside locations, and I am so looking forward to getting more pictures of Kaleigh’s two little munchkins the next time I get to see them!
